Spanish students from the Universidad Europea de Madrid visited NITTE University to understand the Indian Public Health System. A team of 12 Spanish from the Universidad Europea de Madrid (8 Dental students, 2 Medical students and 2 coordinators) were on a Student Exchange Programme at the Medical Sciences Complex from 27 July till 16 August 2015.
During the course of the visit, they learned about the Health care delivery system in India, observed the patient care at KSHEMA and ABSMIDS, visited the various Rural Satellite centres of NITTE University and participated in Outreach activities/ camps organized through the Medical and Dental College.
An orientation programme was conducted at the Nitte University Board Room on 28 July 2015. Prof. Dr. M.S. Moodithaya, the Registrar, welcomed the guests and gave an insight on the changing socio-economic development in India and also on the NITTE Education Trust/ Nitte University. Dr. Sudeep Kumar, Head, Department of Public Health, KSHEMA, delivered a lecture on the “Indian Health system” and reviewed the health indicators of India and Spain. Following the programme, Prof. Dr. Ramananda Shetty, Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Alka Kulakarni, Controller of Examinations, interacted with the team.
