Announcement by a third party: Lovanium Seminar: Sunil Khilnani on India’s lessons for the EU

Starts at 11.30 with the discussion of two chapters from Sunil Khilnani’s “The Idea of India” that have been precirculated.

After lunch (from 2pm to 5pm, with a break in the middle, we shall welcome Professor Khilnani (King’s College London) for a presentation on the main achievements and challenges of federalism in the Indian Union, followed by a discussion about what can be learned from it for the European Union.

10.30 – 11.30: Discussion of Prof. Khilnany’s chapter on Democracy in his book The Idea of India, Penguin Books, 5th edition.
11.30 – 13.00 : Sara Stefanutti : Federalism and Public Debt Management
13.00 – 14.00: Lunch
14.00 – 16.00: Sunil Khilnany (King’s College, London), on Indian Federalism
