Today, we live in a time where the relationship between Europe and India has radically changed and is completely unlike the exotic fascination, colonial domination, or development aid of the past. We are said to be “equal partners” but no one really knows what this entails. More than ever, we are in need of e new policy framework instead of adding more patches to a 19th-century framework. The first step in developing such a policy framework is to look at how we talk about India.
