The Embassy of India in Brussels is pleased to announce that it will award Grant-in-aid for the year 2016-17 to Indo-Foreign Friendship Cultural Societies of Belgium and Luxembourg actively involved in fostering friendly relations with India and promoting a better understanding of Indian culture in these countries.
You would be aware that 2016-17 marks the 70th anniversary of India’s independence (“India at 70”). The year also marks 70 years of our diplomatic relations with Belgium. This Embassy therefore desires Indo-Foreign Friendship Cultural Societies of Belgium to organize events aimed towards highlighting the aforesaid landmarks of both India and India-Belgium bilateral relations.
Grants will be given to cover expenses on activities which help projection of India’s cultural image and generation of greater understanding of its cultural heritage, present situation and perspectives in Belgium and Luxembourg and for promoting bilateral cultural contacts etc, for instance, discussions on Indian culture, history, civilization by inviting eminent scholars, artists etc who are interested in Indian affairs, can be sponsored. The grantees can also furnish their premises with books on India, replicas of Indian art objects, Indian handicrafts etc. The societies can also take up celebration of Indian festivals, holding of seminars on topics of intellectual pursuits, anniversaries of great personalities, arranging performances of Indian troupes, exhibition of books, classes/courses on Yoga, Hindi and other Indian languages, Indian music/dance, publication of books/journals, running of libraries/reading rooms having literature on India, promoting interaction between distinguished visiting Indian academics, artists etc with local counterparts etc.
This grant will cover the period from Oct 2016 to March 2017 and would be subject to the following conditions:
(i) The grant should be utilized by 31 March 2017
(ii) The selected organization will be required to maintain a separate account for this grant. The account will be open for audit by the Government of India.
(iii) Unspent balances, if any, shall be surrendered to the Embassy of India without delay after March 2017.
(iv) The selected organization should not divert the grant and entrust the execution of the cultural activity for which it was given to another institution or organization.
(v) If the selected organization fails to utilize the grant for the purpose of which it was given, they will be required to refund the entire amount with interest thereon.
(vi) The selected organization should not have received a grant-in-aid for the same purpose from any other source.
